If you use online banking here is some tips how to get electronic formats of your business or personal transactions. Each bank has a slightly different method for getting your transaction data out of internet banking. The guide below should help you do this if you belong to the major Canadian banks. Your bank may offer a few file formats. If possible, pick the QuickBooks Online data (QBO) format. Some banks have 3 month limitation for transaction download. In this case you need to download your records 4 times per year every 3 month.
Get transactions from your bank.
Log into your online banking (bank or credit card's website).
Select the account you want to download a QBO for.
Find a “view statements” or “view transaction history” or similar tab and click on it.
Check the date range requested. (some banks might have 3 month limitation)
Select the QBO option as the "Output" or "Format"
Click "Export", "Save" or "Download"
